1. Introduction

Global Energy Atlas ("Platform", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the Platform, including pages visited, features used, and the number of data exports and advanced queries performed.

Payment Data: Payment information is processed securely via Paddle. We do not store your credit card details on our servers.

Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and session cookies necessary to operate the service.

IP Address for Abuse Prevention: We collect and store your IP address at registration and when claiming a free trial. This is used to prevent the creation of multiple accounts to circumvent free trial restrictions (available on the Starter Plan only). IP records are retained for 12 months.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide and improve our services, process payments, send energy alerts and operational updates, respond to your inquiries, and comply with legal obligations.

Fraud Prevention: We use IP address and email data to detect attempts to claim multiple free trials or circumvent subscription restrictions.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share data with trusted service providers (such as Paddle for payments) who adhere to strict data protection standards.

5. Data Security

We use TLS/SSL encryption for all communications, secure password storage (bcrypt), and continuous security monitoring. No internet system can guarantee 100% security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. Upon account closure, we delete your personal data within 30 days, retaining legally required records. IP records associated with fraud prevention are retained for 12 months.
